Background of a taxidermy store- MountsForSale.com

Taxidermy in need of a new home.

This business in taxidermy sales started in response to a need that I came across a few years ago in dealing with a friend of mine. He was an avid hunter and wanted to downsize his considerable collection of mounts. He decided to sell a number of his exotic game collection, but we could not find a local market. So, at great expense, we ended up shipping several taxidermy items to a southern auction house. He realized a decent price but had the considerable outlay of shipping costs and auction premiums. Soon thereafter, my friend passed away and I was left with the task of selling his remaining taxidermy mounts, skulls, rugs and art.  Again, I found little interest locally, so started doing some research on how to market my friend's collection.  I found that there were a few big sales sites in taxidermy, but none that were close enough or that they were interested in what I possessed.

So, I launched a new business in taxidermy sales to find new homes for my friend's collection.  Once I started listing and getting some exposure, I began to be contacted by others in my predicament...   I found that there were other people who were wanting to part with wildlife and taxidermy items as well.  Mounts from their home or business, that they had inherited or thru whatever circumstances and that they wished to sell. So I started MountsForSale.com to facilitate a way for taxidermy in this area to be seen and purchased from a national audience.

I have always appreciated wildlife.

I also quality mounts and started my own collection with a 5x5 whitetail buck I got hunting as a 13-year-old in the woods of Northern Minnesota. Since then, I've enjoyed hunting in the state of Montana which I moved to in 1983. Wildlife abounds in the wilderness and prairies across the state. We have many species in varying populations ranging from Pronghorn antelope and Mule deer to elk, moose and whitetails. These are complimented by black bear, grizzlies, mountain goats, big horn sheep, mountain lions and timber wolves. With so many large game species (not to mention smaller size animals as well as predators, fish and birds!) we at MountsForSale have access to a relatively sizable supply of beautiful taxidermy mounts of most of North America's most coveted game.

All of our mounts have been ethically acquired from various taxidermists, collectors, enthusiasts and hunters.  Mounts For Sale owners, staff and employees have not personally harvested any of the taxidermy items that are offered on our site.  We are secondhand owners of all the products which we offer thru our site for sale.  To the best of our knowledge, all items have been legally harvested. We endeavor to provide details about origins of the items listed as we have that information available.
